Mold Design Review

DFM is the detailed analysis in optimizing the component for a cost effective and eased manufacturing, mold design review holds an important contribution to validate the implementation of DFM details into the design of the mold. DFMs primarily focus on components while mold design in overall focuses on all aspects of a properly functioning mold. Items such as necessities of insulator sheets, runner shutoffs, cooling channels, sizes of knock outs and their locations, ejection units, and much more such as mold flow analysis, are reviewed by the tooling experts prior to mold fabrication. Such comprehensive review is critical to having a mold robust in performance for mass manufacturing. Once all assured, the mold is ready to enter in mold manufacturing stage which comes in our next stage: “manufacturing setup”.
